"Animals Animals" by Eric Carle

From the same author as "The Hungry Caterpillar," Carle again uses his unique artistic illustrations to create a compilation of stories regarding a wide variety of animals. In this story, every page (sometimes two) is dedicated to Carle's unique depiction of a specfiic animal, followed by a different author's short poem talking about the animal.

This book is phenimal for young children who are interested in animals, in that the illustrations help draw the children into reading each poem about every animal. Most of the rhetoric in each poem either comprises of alliterations or rhyming schemes. These different literary techniques help keep chidren interested, as well as makes it easier for them to familiarze themselves with certain words that appear similar. One of the only complaints about this book is that it seems very reptative. However, Carle's pleasureable and distinctive imagery from the animal kingdom keep this story interesting.
